The Center provides a caring Christian presence to the people in the Benton Harbor area. Its community outreach services provide information, personal support and assistance with utilities, food, medicines, limited transportation and other basic needs. (We write MEAP grants for heat & electric help yearly – from October thru April we assist with these grants for electric and gas. The grants are thru the utility company donations for those who qualify – we do assist outside Benton Harbor for the grants.)
The Center also provides a rainbow of educational/social opportunities for its guests: one-on-one computer education; Grief Group in partnership with Lori’s Place; GED tutoring; financial literacy classes; health monitoring; creative, healthy food recipes; luncheons for grandmothers; job opportunities are posted and presentations scheduled, conversations on valuing and choosing for life changes; and a variety of speakers on issues facing the BH community (expungement, legal advice).
The Center has a small Thrift Store accepting gently used sheet sets, blankets, bathroom towels/face cloths and, for the kitchen, we accept dishes, pots/pans, silverware and dish towels.
**In the winter months, sweaters, coats, gloves, and hats are always appreciated.
Thrift Store Hours of operation: M – Th. 9:00 – 11:30.
(Drop off goods anytime M-F, but please call first for afternoon drop-ins)
